Ram Square in Prozor and cultural and artistic center

The project – the decoration of Ram Square in Zorno and the newly designed cultural and artistic centre building was created in response to the competition that was called in the city of Zorno. In fact, the city of Prozor has recently presented the wider surroundings, the newly designed building of the municipality, and further analysis saw the possibility of decorating the space located right next to the new building. As a result, they set provisions that would give the city a new focus and a rapper, which is a square and cultural and artistic center.

Seeing the potential in the aforementioned task, we formed a summary and conceptual clean solution that not only meets the aforementioned provisions, but also pushes boundaries in terms of treating space and using it. The first design provision was an coverage that could not withstand the functions that were given to its gabarites.  Therefore, traffic analyses were carried out where optimising roads and establishing one-way streets, the coverage was further expanded, and we allowed smooth passage to the underground garage, which is really necessary in this area. In such a concept we also included the existing underground garage of the newly designed municipal building.

What we used to run during the design is just a clean and free space, which in this case we provided so that we placed the cultural and artistic center in the end of the encompass, in such a way that it occupies the smallest surface, in order to remain as much space as possible in the service of the square. What the coverage initiates is the triangular shape of the entire default surface that we used to define the form of the newly designed center and thus further save in space.

What is the main goal of this concept of the object is precisely verticality. If we look at the silhouette of the city, we see that this city lacks focus in space, a certain vertical that could become a rapper in the future, a landmark in space. Access to the object is defined as a multifunctional, access plateau, adapted to different outdoor events. Inside the property there is a contemporary city café as well as a multifunctional, festive hall, connected by a glass bridge with an existing building. On the next stages, there is a gallery space, in whose interior there is a game with shadow and airspaces.

The square is a space that has taken a central position and has introduced an additional emphasis in space with different denials. What particularly adorns it is a tactful map, sculpture and mosaic that also historically replenishes space.

In this way we moved our own borders, but also the boundaries of what we were offered, and we created a space that is functional, practical, unique and represents a turning point in the architectural sense of this space.
